Vietnamese Immigrating Garden
2022 and On-going, Photoghraphy (Series of 10 pieces)
This series of photograph is an expansion of my research based work ‘Vietnamese immigrating Garden’ in Documenta 15th in Kassel, Germany. After the exhibition ended, the work was preserved as permanent social-platform installation by city government and Vietnamese Association in Kassel. This series of photography was developed under the on-going observation on the land where the garden located and its transformation by Vietnamese community in Germany. Through the garden and the images of plants, I also want to explore the concepts of homeland and local cultures, these encounters in the new lands, new contexts. Looking deeply into seemingly familiar things like a tree, a leaf, etc., How they affect to our psyche? our daily life? In addition, how socio-political issues affect the formation of habits and culture of the minority community? Seeing a garden as an ’social platform’ where stories are gathered and spoken about different aspects of life. Beyond all, I aim to create a hope for people who be disconnected to their land, their culture; as well as to question our modern society, our politics on the fragile and problematic way its becoming.

ชุดภาพถ่ายนี้เป็นส่วนที่ขยายออกมาจากงานวิจัยของฉันที่ชื่อ ‘สวนอพยพชาวเวียดนาม'(Vietnamese immigrating Garden) ในดอคูเมนทา ครั้งที่ 15 ณ เมืองคัสเซิล ประเทศเยอรมนี หลังจากจบงานนิทรรศการแล้ว ชิ้นงานได้รับการเก็บรักษาไว้โดยการติดตั้งไว้ในสื่อสังคมแบบถาวรโดยกรมการปกครองนครและสมาคมเวียดนามในคัสเซิล ภาพถ่ายชุดนี้ถูกพัฒนาภายใต้การสังเกตุการอย่างต่อเนื่องเกี่ยวกับดินแดนที่สวนนั้นตั้งอยู่และแปรเปลี่ยนไปเป็นชุมชนของชาวเวียดนามในประเทศเยอรมนี
ฉันยังต้องการสำรวจแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับบ้านเกิดและวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นผ่านสวนและภาพของต้นไม้ บริบทใหม่ ๆ และการเผชิญหน้ากับดินแดนใหม่ เมื่อมองลึกเข้าไปในสิ่งที่ดูคุ้นเคยเหมือนกับต้นไม้ ใบไม้ และอื่น ๆ นั้น พวกมันส่งผลต่อจิตใจเราอย่างไร? กับชีวิตประจำวันของเราล่ะ? นอกจากนี้แล้ว ประเด็นทางสังคมและการเมืองส่งผลต่อการสร้างนิสัยและวัฒนธรรมของชุมชนชนกลุ่มน้อยอย่างไร? มองสวนนั้นเป็นดั่ง’สื่อสังคม’ ที่ซึ่งรวบรวมเรื่องราวและพูดถึงแง่มุมต่าง ๆ ของชีวิต เหนือสิ่งอื่นใด เป้าหมายของฉันคือการสร้างความหวังให้กับผู้คนที่ถูดตัดขาดจากดินแดนที่อยู่ของตน สังคม ตลอดจนการตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับสังคมยุคใหม่ ๆ การเมืองที่กลายเป็นเรื่องเปราะบางอีกทั้งยังเป็นปัญหา
