Earlier, Khvay had examined French rule from a different perspective in his piece, “Rubber Man” (2014-2015). The legacy of use of large swaths of land for rubber plantations, including the lasting impact on indigenous forests and spiritual communities, was the starting point for the creation of a video installation featuring Khvay himself pouring fresh liquid rubber over his body. Concerned about the ancient forests of Ratanakiri Province, Khvay wonders, through this work, about the bearing of environmental change on the spirits of the land.

เมื่อไม่นามานี้ ขะวายได้พินิจพิจารณาการปกครองของประเทศฝรั่งเศสจากมุมมองที่ต่างออกไปในผลงานของเขา “รับเบอร์ แมน” (2014-2015) มรดกตกทอดแห่งการใช้ที่ดินผืนใหญ่เพื่อปลูกยางพารารวมไปถึงผลกระทบอย่างยาวนานที่มีต่อป่าธรรมชาติและศูนย์ยึดเหนี่ยวทางจิตใจได้มาเป็นเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นในการสร้างสรรค์การแสดงวีดิทัศน์ที่มีตัวของขะวายเองกำลังราดน้ำยางลงบนร่างกาย และด้วยความเป็นห่วงเกี่ยวกับป่าเก่าแก่ของจังหวัดรัตนคีรีนั้น ขะวายรู้สึกประหลาดใจเกี่ยวกับทิศทางการเปลี่ยนแปลงของธรรมชาติที่มีต่อจิตวิญญาณของแผ่นดินผ่านงานชิ้นนี้
